Let's Go Shopping!

Last night Valentino and I had a date at Zara. The only place I shop these days (besides Century 21 of course)!--they always have a few key pieces that help to update my 'mom uniform' of denim and tank tops. How awesome are these two light jackets that I picked up. The trench is more for casual spring days...while the white overcoat is for warm summer days and nights! New clothes always make me every woman happy! Am I right?

P.S Here is an interesting article about how Zara is 'Taking on the World', opening an insane amount of stores...9 a week to be exact!

An Open Letter to Tammy Wynette.

Oh Tammy Wynette. You aren't so convincing singing "Stand by your Man." As a matter of fact you kinda look like a zombie singing this song. In your lyrics you state Sometimes It is hard to be a woman...giving all your love to just one man...Is there something you would like to tell us? Also, why do women get to have the bad times? And the men the good times... Let's be fair here can't we all just have equal good times? Ok, ok I laughed at the line ..."Cause after all he's just a man". Kinda a low blow huh? Oh and nice hair!

Sometimes it's hard to be a woman
Giving all you love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doin things that you don't understand
But if you love him
You'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him
Oh, be proud of him
Cause after all he's just a man

Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
when nights are cold and lonely

Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

The Princess and the Frog.

Goodmoring. What a gorgeous weekend! It was 61 degrees in Woodstock so that meant teaching the kids how to enjoy the outdoors (seriously, Isabel had to be coaxed outside all weekend and each time she said "Can I watch TV" I felt like I had failed her as a Mother). Aren't kids automatically programmed to know how to play outside?

Standing in the backyard looking up at the house, it was great to get a new perspective on the house. For five months now we have been shuttered indoors,  so having access to the outdoors really expands the potential for fun...think...gardens, swimming pools (kid size for now), and barbeques! While none of it happened over the weekend,  we did clean up the yard (from lots of junk), find some dead (and alive) frogs in the coy pond, and hit up a drum circle (which wasn't in our yard but just down the road)(hey we do live in Woodstock...Bro)!

A princess dress and heels...the perfect attire to play outside ...don't you think?

Since she was a 'Princess' I told Isabel that if she kissed this frog (albeit dead) maybe a price would appear.  She wasn't having it.

Valentino clearing out the clutter...doesn't he look thrilled?

Someone else's trash is someone else's treasure...isn't that how the saying goes?

'Broken Flowers'

Yesterday, while on my run, I actually felt warm air on my face. I ended my run in a tee-shirt which was a huge indicator that spring had sprung. Later in the day,  I saw cherry blossoms on a tree and daffodils and tulips beginning to sprout from the ground. Looking forward to seeing the first signs of spring in our yard upstate. We still have snow in parts that don't get much sun so it seems like it will never happen...Hope you have a great weekend!

Broken Flowers is a series  by artist Jon Shireman, created by dipping flowers in a liquid nitrogen bath and then smashing them on a hard surface.

This Bites!

We have a problem on our hands. At almost 19 months old, our sweet Stella has turned into a piranha, boxer, and professional hair puller all-in-one. It is getting crazy around here. I have started to fear her at times. While nursing her, out of nowhere, she will whack me in the face, while relaxing on the sofa she will suddenly sink her newly-cut teeth into my forearm, and poor Isabel...the hair she has lost due to Stella's 'Mean Girls' phase is well...unacceptable.

What do we do? I have all the books from when Isabel was little (the problem must run in the family). But with Isabel it didn't seem so bad. Ok... there was that one time that she bit the kid at school right on his face...eessshh...that wasn't pretty. But with two kids it's a bit trickier. How do I explain to Isabel, while she is in the grip of one of Stella's hair attacks, that it is not ok for her to reciprocate the act...(eye for an eye...no)? Or how about yesterday, when I made a big parent fail, and pulled Stella's hair... in order to teach that pulling hair is bad. Oops. Later on the Internet I read this is exactly what not to do! We live we learn right?

Any advice beyond the mantra "This too shall pass"?

Eggceptional!

vintage egg toss photo

Last week while driving upstate Valentino nonchalantly asked if I wanted to go the the White House and meet the First Lady? Um...YES!!! I replied. Why would you even ask? Of course! --- The opportunity presented itself because The Super Sprowtz were invited to participate in the White House Easter Egg Roll. Apparently it's a big deal and has been going on for 136 years! For me it would be fun not just to toss a few eggs around,  but to see Washington D.C--This American girl shamefully has never seen our nation's Capital! Stay-tuned... more on this later.

Also...watch the new Erica Eggplant video below...had me cracking up!
